We recommend all new patients schedule an initial appointment to simply meet with our dentist one-on-one. This provides new patients with the opportunity to ask questions about our dentist's education, experience and the services provided. It also allows our dentist to get to know potential new patients and become familiar with their dental needs prior to providing treatment.
New Patient Paperwork
If you are happy after your initial appointment and are ready to make St. Lucie Family Dental your new dental home, our staff will schedule your first official appointment. We ask new patients to arrive at least 20 minutes early to provide ample time to complete paperwork detailing your medical and dental history. Or, our tech-savvy patients can download the new patient forms from the following link and complete them at their convenience:
Comprehensive Examination and Cleaning
After receiving your new patient paperwork, our dentist will review it thoroughly, paying close attention to your dental and medical history. This ensures any treatments provided do not have adverse risks to your oral or overall health. Then our dentist will proceed with your comprehensive oral exam, checking your teeth, gums and other oral tissues for signs of decay, gum disease and other problems. Following the oral exam is the teeth cleaning. This painless treatment removes any plaque and tartar buildup from your teeth and gums, which provides further protection from decay and disease.
When your exam and cleaning are complete, our dentist will take a series of digital x-rays to view your teeth, roots and jawbone in greater detail. The digital format allows our dentist to quickly evaluate the images and make an assessment and diagnosis. Our dentist will look for signs of deep cavities, infections, impacted teeth, bone loss and more.
At the end of your appointment, our dentist will review any findings with you. If no problems were found, our dentist will simply recommend to continue brushing and flossing daily and returning in six months for another exam and cleaning. If, however, any problems were detected, our dentist may recommend additional dental procedures to address and eliminate the issue. Our staff will provide you with a complete breakdown of the costs of the recommended procedure(s) so you can make an informed decision about your dental care.
Whether follow-up procedures are needed or you simply need to return in six months, our friendly staff will assist in scheduling those appointments at times that are most convenient for you.
For your convenience, we use Smile Reminders to remind you of your scheduled appointments via text or email. Sign up here: Smile Reminders Consent Form.
